The Solano family has cared for and nurtured Tempranillo vines for this Ribera del Duero for over 30 years, and they have done so organically. The roots now run deep in the varied soil, which here consists of clay, marl, and limestone. Adding 2% of the green Albillo grape gives a slightly aromatic Ribera del Duero with balanced tannins and a long, fat aftertaste.
After cold maceration of the grapes for 2-3 days and a 9-10 day fermentation period, Hacienda Solano ages the wine for eight months in classic French barriques and 500L tonneaux barrels, after which the wine matures for an additional 3 months in the bottle before release.

Begude makes fantastic cool climate wine and that’s no exception when it’s their “Terroir 11300” Chardonnay in the glass. 11300 is the postcode of Lemoux, and it underlines the fact that Begude makes terroir-driven wine at 340 meters above sea level – which gives a cool, clean wine. The nose is tropical with peach, pineapple, a hint of herbs, green apples, honeydew melon and quince. The palate has a nice fullness, a hint of spicy notes and a discreet oak character (85% of the wine is cold fermented in stainless steel tanks and 15% is aged in large 600-liter wooden barrels). Balanced, medium acidity with pineapple, pear, Philippa apple, almonds and peach as primary notes.
